Due to its high vigour, ICEBREAKER is the only variety that provides consistently sweet tasting iceberg as we come out of Winter and, for this reason, processors ask for it by name. ICEBREAKER has sufficient vigour to produce a large frame and good sized heads in the cold while being tolerant enough to late Spring weather fluctuations so as not to go puffy. With the demise of Gitanas, ICEBREAKER has proven itself to be the ideal replacement with even more vigour for earlier cutting, and enough versatility to be harvested well into late Spring (early November in Pukekohe).
